Healthcare Support Worker
To work as a team with GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists to achieve outstanding primary care. The Healthcare support worker must assist the practice clinical team in the provision of excellent patient care. Our patients are the heart of our surgery. Communication is pivotal and teamwork is essential in order to deliver safe, effective and personalised care. We pride ourselves here at MMC and we have a patient Participation group.
This job is suited to individuals who enjoy interacting with patients, delivering high quality patient care.

The effective use of training and development is fundamental in ensuring that all staff are equipped with the appropriate skills. Additional training opportunities will be provided.
Key Roles:
- New patient medicals, including height, weight, BMI, Pulse and BP.
- Urine tests
- Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
- Chaperone procedure
- Phlebotomy preferred (training can be provided)
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisation’s policy
- Make sure clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Assist in preparing patient for examinations or procedures.
- Attend practice meetings
- Attend all learning events
- Take responsibility for continuous professional development.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year experience working within a healthcare setting.
Care Certificate
Phlebotomy skills preferred but not essential (training can be provided)
GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead GP and Nurse to provide patient care.
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)
Salary: £11.50/hr
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Based within the practice premises
