Job Title: Herds Manager

Job Summary
- Are you a seasoned livestock professional with a passion for managing large-scale herds? We are seeking an experienced Herds Manager to oversee the health, nutrition, and productivity of our cattle herds.
- The Herds Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the cattle herd, ensuring the health, nutrition, and productivity of the animals.
- This role requires a proactive approach to managing herd health, nutrition, and breeding programs, as well as collaborating with other farm staff to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Herd Health Management:
- Develop and implement herd health programs to prevent and control diseases.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and other farm staff to diagnose and treat animal health issues.
Nutrition and Feeding Management:
- Develop and implement feeding programs to optimize animal growth and productivity.
- Monitor and control feed quality, quantity, and costs.
Breeding and Reproduction Management
- Develop and implement breeding programs to improve herd genetics and productivity.
- Monitor and control breeding and reproduction processes to optimize animal fertility and productivity.
Herd Management and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of herd health, nutrition, breeding, and productivity.
- Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges, and make recommendations for improvement.
Staff Management and Training
- Supervise and train farm staff on herd management best practices.
- Collaborate with other farm staff to achieve business objectives.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in livestock management, preferably in a managerial role.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of livestock management principles and practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and data management software.
