Job Summary
The Trust is seeking to hire individuals who are dedicated and adaptable to work as Ambulance Care Assistants for the Patient Transport Service, giving patients being transferred for non-emergency appointments high quality care and support.
The successful applicants will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from treatment centres, ensuring that they are supported and cared for appropriately during their journey and that any patients feeling unwell are provided with appropriate assistance.
A legitimate EU driver’s license with no more than three endorsement points will be in your possession. (in exceptional circumstances a maximum of 6 points may be considered).
Only the South Cumbria region will have open positions for this recruitment, which encompasses the following stations:
Group of South Cumbria and Furness:
- Barrow
- Ulverston
- Millom
If your application is shortlisted, you will be asked to complete an online psychometric evaluation. If your psychometric evaluation meets the necessary standard, you will move on to the following round of evaluations.
The chosen candidates must be prepared to participate in the driving evaluation and interview. If you are hired for this position, you will need to complete pre-employment screenings ahead of a post-recruitment training course that will start in May 2023 and last for three weeks in the North West region, provided that pre-employment screenings are successfully completed two weeks before the associated course.
Main responsibilities of the job
As a patient transport care assistant, you will handle patients effectively by giving them the right kind of help they need to get in and out of vehicles. Supporting unsteady patients or maneuvering scooters around obstacles or in confined spaces are examples of this.
You must always be able to support patients with empathy, respect, and care, making sure their trip is secure and comfortable and providing any necessary care and support. You must choose and use the proper tools and skills while staying within your degree of training, competency, and area of expertise.
